Problem:
Getaboard  does not utilize their user interface and design on their website to help increase volunteer ship and donations.

Solution: Provide users with a redesigned visually appealing user interface and a call to action to help increase volunteer ship and donations.

Research Problem

We noticed many non profit organizations do not utilize their user interface and design on their websites to help increase volunteer ship and donations.

Objective

To understand the motivation behind why users donate and/or volunteer to a particular non-profit and what makes them become repeat donors and/or volunteers.

Problem Statement

Our website was created help underprivileged youth help build self-esteem, self-respect, and self-confidence through action sports, creative art, STEM and/or literacy education .We are aware that our website is not meeting these goals as best as it could which has resulted in less awareness and a decrease in donor ship  and volunteer ship. Improvements to the website will help increase in donation which will result in an increase in donations and volunteers.

User Scenario

Janet Levy is a social worker and mother of 1 daughter, who is seeking a Black- Owned non profit in her community that focuses on the youth. She is looking to be able to confidently donate and volunteer her personal time,  to a local non profit. Janet is concerned about charities that aren’t honest about their mission,  so she is looking for a website she can learn more about the nonprofit's mission and to see reliable impacts within her community.
The Design
User Flow / Site Map

After conducting user research and interviews, we asked participants to organize pre-existing links into categories of their own choosing. Our goal was to gain insight into users' intuitive navigation skills and to understand what made the most sense to each individual. By doing so, we were able to better tailor our navigation approach to meet the needs of our diverse user base.

Design Style Guide

After conducting research and engaging in conversations with stakeholders, we identified a diverse user base consisting of both children and parents. Keeping this in mind, we have developed a new brand style that combines youthful vibrancy with sophistication. Our goal is to appeal to both demographics while maintaining a modern and polished image

Interaction Design and Calls to action

As part of our website redesign, we placed a strong emphasis on improving the user experience. To achieve this, we aimed to provide clear visual cues for users to navigate through the site and understand where they were at any given time. To accomplish this goal, we included prominent buttons for key calls to action, such as "Get Involved" and "Donate". These were identified as the two most important actions that we wanted users to take, and we wanted to ensure they were immediately visible and accessible from the new design.

We also conducted user testing to gather feedback and make sure the buttons were easily recognizable and that their placement was intuitive. As a result, we were able to refine the design to better meet the needs of our users and provide a more streamlined experience.

Usability Tests

       Tasks:

        ●
Explain what the website is about from 5 second              viewing of homepage

        ●  Scroll up and down homepage, elaborate on             website’s purpose

        ●  Donate $25 via card to GetABoard

User testing Notes

Allusers successfully completed all tasks. Afterviewing our iterated site for 5 seconds, each user was able to successfullyrecognize GetABoard as a nonprofit organization that geared towards helpingchildren.

Final Thoughts

This project provided us with a valuable opportunity to help a nonprofit organization expand its community outreach efforts through volunteering and donations. By making some tweaks to the design and implementing clear call-to-actions, we believe that Getaboard.org will see an increase in engagement from donors and volunteers, as well as retention of its current patrons.

Our team is confident that the new website will make it easier for users to navigate and find the information they need, ultimately resulting in a more positive user experience and increased community involvement. We are excited to see the impact our work will have on this worthy cause.
